I tried to find a picture of a man merkin but I lost patience and had to settle for this one. Merkins seem to be in the zeitgeist right now. The subject first came up after Sasha Grey emerged from a jacuzzi in a recent episode of entourage with a very hairy bush wig and a huge smirk on her face. But, then she always seems to be smirking........ Then, after the comedian Robert Schimmel was killed in a car accident last month I heard 2 replays of interviews with him. One was on the Adam Carolla podcast and the other one on Fresh Air with Terry Gross. In each one he mentioned the merkin wig salesman who visited him after his chemo treatments for non-hodgekins lymphoma. He described the man merkin as something like a hairy donut. Then I watched the premier episode of Boardwalk Empire on HBO and there was a scene in the morgue with a nude woman on the gurney and the hugest merkin yet! It was as big as a personal pan pizza! The weird thing is that the fashion these days for the southern hemisphere is more of a scorched earth policy. Could this be a sign that the pendulum is swinging back to re-forestation?
